NEW TEXAS MUSIC

TEXAS MUSIC AWARDS
Congratulations to all recipients and nominees honored on Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Palestine, Texas, for recordings released last year (2007). Visit the site and enjoy more Texas music.

DAVID BYBOTH'S FIRST CD RELEASED
Title: MY MIND'S EYE (From Spygoat Records, Spring 2008)
Performing songwriter David Byboth's brand new Ray Wylie Hubbard produced CD is a fine collection of high-low-and-in-between songs and stories about real and imagined characters. As Vince Bell says, “With just an acoustic guitar and a story to tell, David can hold his own with the best of us.” LSW seconds the notion and thinks Texas music doesn't get much better than this. Click here to check it out for yourself on Byboth's MySpace site. Available from CDBaby.

Excerpts from other reviews:

"As both a review writer and house concert host...I had a pretty good idea that Byboth’s CD would be one of the better ones, but folks, it’s one of the great ones..."
Complete review at MissLana.com

"Playing this album is like having a coupla friends over with a few beers and guitars...singing songs about Texas, lost loves, good neighbors and old friends..."

Related note: One of David Byboth's songs "The Letters," has been added to Neil Young's Songs of the Times list. As of this writing it's #179 out of more than 2500 songs ranked by the number of plays they get. Sorry, but this one not on the new cd but is posted on Byboth's MySpace site.

Tom About ten years ago multimedia artist Tom Hendricks landed a very long-term gig playing music in the box office of Landmark's beautifully restored Inwood Theatre in Dallas where he performs as "Hunkasaurus and His Pet Dog Guitar," the latter a 1964 Silvertone acoustic.

Of his "post-bands" performance persona Hendricks says, "It was the dumbest name I could think of, and I wanted to bring the fun back to music.” Click here to read more of the story inTexas Highways.

Visit www.hunkasaurus.com to hear songs from the first four "post-bands" cds.
